Buckeyes Back in Action Saturday at Indiana State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s cross country team returns to competition this Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Indiana State Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Scarlet and Gray will race against 51 of the nation’s top teams Saturday morning at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course, site of the 2013 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Buckeyes Ranked Eighth in Great Lakes Region Poll
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its regional cross country rankings Oct. 7, with Ohio State checking-in at No. 8 in the Great Lakes region. Michigan State, ranked ninth nationally, is the No. 1-ranked team in the region. 14th-ranked Michigan is second, followed by No. 20 Butler, Indiana, No. 30 Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Toledo and the Buckeyes.
Last Time Out
Ohio State finished 13th overall at the 5k Notre Dame Invitational Oct. 4 in South Bend, Ind.
The Buckeyes closed the competitive meet with a team score of 351, finishing seven points behind Northwestern. Second-ranked Florida State won the invitational with 77 points, followed by No. 7 New Mexico (82) and No. 10 San Francisco (96).
Junior Katie Borchers cracked the Top 25 of the individual standings for the Scarlet and Gray, racing to a 23rd-place time of 17:37.7. Junior Michelle Thomas was 44th in 17:54.0 and sophomore Sakiko Minagawa 75th in a time of 18:17.0. Also scoring was freshman Jill Kanney (100th, 18:29.1) and sophomore Helen Willman (112th, 18:35.5).
The Buckeyes have two weeks off prior to a Nov. 3 trip to the 2013 Big Ten Cross Country Championships in West Lafayette, Ind.
