Buckeyes Finish Eighth at the Great Lakes Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s cross country team closed its 2015 campaign with an eighth-place finish out of 31 teams Friday afternoon at the 2015 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships in Madison, Wis.

Senior Sakiko Minagawa was the top finisher for the Scarlet and Gray, turning in a 35th-place 6k time of 21:25.6 in her final race as a Buckeye. Sophomore Christine Frederick finished her season in strong fashion as well, crossing the line 41st overall in 21:29.8.

Minori Minagawa, Ohio State’s top runner at the Big Ten championships, was 51st (21:42.5) in her final race as a Buckeye, followed closely by fellow senior Andrea McArdle (53rd, 21:45.2). Freshman Brittany Atkinson completed the scoring five for the Buckeyes, placing 58th in a time of 21:51.9.

No. 7 Michigan, the Big Ten runner-up, captured the regional title with a team score of 69. No. 15 Notre Dame was second with 79, followed by defending national champion and 18th-ranked Michigan State. OSU finished the meet with 238 points.
