COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's cross country team finished sixth overall at the 6k NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships Friday afternoon in Madison, Wis.
A pair of all-regional performers -- sophomore Michelle Thomas and junior Meredith Wagner -- led the way for the Buckeyes. Thomas turned in a 20th-place time of 20:50, while Wagner placed 25th in 20:58. Tori Brink (30th, 21:05), Nicole Hilton (42nd, 21:28) and Katie Borchers (49th, 21:33) also scored for the Scarlet and Gray.
As a team, Ohio State compiled a score of 166 to finish six points behind No. 18 Toledo for the fifth position. No. 6 Michigan (41 points) took the team title, with 11th-ranked Michigan State (77 points) claiming runner-up honors. By finishing in the Top 2, the Wolverines and Spartans clinch automatic bids to the NCAA championship Nov. 17.
At-large bids will be announced later this week.
