NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Ohio State women’s cross country team finished 13th Friday afternoon at the 5k Notre Dame Invitational.
Competing with an aggressive 28 team field, the Buckeyes compiled a total team score 366. No. 7 Florida State took the team title with 54 points, followed by runner-up and 18th-ranked Arkansas (116 points). Third place went to No. 2 New Mexico (164)
Redshirt senior Jordan Jennewine was the top Buckeye finisher on the day, placing 37th in 17:42. Freshman Nicole Hilton turned in another impressive performance in her debut season, crossing the finish line in 17:54 for 65th, one second faster than junior Tori Brink (66th, 17:55). Rounding out the scoring for the Scarlet and Gray were freshman Michelle Thomas (69th, 17:56) and sophomore Mallory Kreider (129th, 18:31).
Runners battled adverse weather conditions all day, as temperatures dipped into the low 50s and winds blew at 20-30 MPH, with top gusts reaching 40 MPH and above. Due to severe rain in the area over the last week, the course was extremely wet, with soft spots throughout.
