Leary Named AVCA All-America Honorable Mention

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Senior Kaitlyn Leary of the Ohio State women's volleyball team was named an AVCA All-America honorable mention honoree, the AVCA announced Wednesday. The recognition is the first of her career and is the 24th All-America honor in program history.
Leary, an outside hitter from Parma, Ohio, finished with a team-best 577 kills on the year and averaged 4.85 kills per set. Her kills total and average finished first in the Big Ten at the end of the regular season. She finished second in the conference with an overall points average of 5.16 per set and came in third on the team with 277 digs and a 2.33 average.
The All-Big Ten honorable mention totaled double-digit kills in 29 of the team's 32 matches. Leary reached 20 or more kills 15 times, including a 31-kill performance at Michigan (Nov. 2). She finished with 15 double-doubles (kills/digs) on the year, having 10 in Big Ten play.
The 2013 Ohio State Buckeyes ended the season 18-14 overall and finished 10th in the Big Ten with a 6-14 record. The youthful squad put together a 12-0 record in non-conference play.
