COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s Mari Hole was named to the 2011 AVCA All-Mideast Region team while Emily Danks garnered honorable mention honors, the AVCA announced Tuesday.

Hole, a junior outside hitter, is leading the Buckeyes this season with 4.05 kills per set and 522 total kills over 129 sets played. An All-Big Ten selection from Oslo, Norway, Hole has 31 double-digit kill matches overall, including six matches with 20 or more kills. She has 19 double-double performances this season and leads the team with a 4.56 points-per-set average.

A native of Round Rock, Texas, Danks leads the Buckeyes and ranks 13th nationally with .47 aces per set and tied a career-best of six aces against Penn early this season. Danks, a junior outside hitter, has 27 double-digit kill performances and had three with 20 or more kills. She is second on the team with a 3.37 points-per-set average and an average of 3.31 kills per set.

The Buckeyes reached the Sweet Sixteen for the second-consecutive year following a 3-2 win over 14th-seed Tennessee, Dec. 2, in the second round of the 2011 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championships. Ohio State takes on third-seeded Illinois in a regional semifinal at 5 p.m. Friday in Gainesville, Fla.
