The Buckeyes were selected to their third-consecutive NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship this season after finishing 19-14 in the regular season. Under the direction of head coach Geoff Carlston, Ohio State (20-14) advanced to the second round of the tournament after defeating Middle Tennessee State Thursday, 3-1, at the Thompson-Boling Arena on the campus of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Ohio State is led by All-Big Ten selection Mari Hole, who is averaging a team-best 4.03 kills per set. The Oslo, Norway, product totaled 18 kills in the team’s win over MTSU Thursday. Junior Emily Danks, who tallied 16 kills in the victory, is second on the squad this season with a 3.29 kills per set average and has a team-best 60 service aces on the year.
Defensively, the Buckeyes are led by seniors Sarah Mignin and Kelli Barhorst and junior Mariah Booth. Mignin, a libero from Sylvania, Ohio, leads the squad with a 4.27 digs per set average, while Booth is averaging 1.03 blocks per set and Barhorst has a 0.97 average.
