COLUMBUS, Ohio- The No. 14 Ohio State women's volleyball team earned a spot in the 2012 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Tournament field, the NCAA announced Sunday. The Buckeyes (22-10) will travel to Lexington, Ky., to face Notre Dame (20-9) Friday at 5 p.m. ET in the first round.
Host and No. 16 seed Kentucky (20-10) takes on East Tennessee State (23-12) in the first round and the winners of both matches play Saturday at 7 p.m. ET for a spot in the West Lafayette Regional, Dec. 7-8.
The selection is the fourth-straight for the Buckeyes, who have reached the Sweet 16 the past two years. Ohio State is 28-18 overall in NCAA play and has advanced to the Final Four twice ('91, '94).
Ohio State is one of seven Big Ten schools selected to the field of 64. The Buckeyes finished the Big Ten season fourth with a 13-7 record behind nationally-ranked Penn State (No. 1), Nebraska (No. 10) and Minnesota (No. 11). Purdue, Michigan State and Michigan also earned spots in the NCAA tournament.
