Taylor Sherwin Named Big Ten Setter of the Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Taylor Sherwin of the No. 13 Ohio State women's volleyball team was named the Big Ten Setter of the Week, the league announced Monday. The nod is the second honor of the season for the Orlando product.
Sherwin has guided the Buckeyes to a perfect 9-0 start to the season and led the team to the Sports Imports DC Koehl Classic tournament title this weekend in Columbus. The junior was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player after recording a pair of double-doubles and finishing with a 12.55 assists average over 11 sets played.
In the three-set win over IUPUI Friday night, Sherwin notched a 44 assists and added 12 digs for her first double-double on the year. Against Southeast Missouri Saturday afternoon, Sherwin led the match with 48 assists and added a season-best 13 digs in the 3-1 win. She closed out the weekend with 46 assists and eight digs in the 3-1 victory over in-state rival Xavier Saturday night to seal the tournament title.
The undefeated Buckeyes close out their tournament schedule in Buffalo, N.Y., Sept. 20-21, at the Blue and White Classic. Ohio State will face Maryland Eastern Shore and Valparaiso before taking on host Buffalo. The squad then kicks off the Big Ten season, Sept. 27, hosting Michigan in St. John Arena at 8 p.m. ET.
