July 10, 2014
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State University women's volleyball program's 2014 recruiting class has been selected for the Volleyball Magazine's top-25 national rankings. The publication slotted its top-10 classes in order while Ohio State and 14 other schools were chosen as honorable mentions to round out the top-25.
"Ohio State coach Geoff Carlston is excited about his group, which includes the likes of New York prep standout Luisa Schirmer and 6'3" lefty Ashley Wenz," notes Volleyball Magazne in its release. "Schirmer is a 2014 Fab 50 pick. The Buckeyes also added Middle Tennessee State transfer Tyler Richardson, who ranked 13th in the nation last year in hitting percentage."
The Big Ten Conference boasts five of the top-10 classes and 10 of the top-25, leaving little doubt to the nation's premier collegiate women's volleyball league.
Ohio State begins the '14 campaign during the final weekend of August (Aug. 29-30), competing in a round-robin tournament hosted by the University of Oregon. In addition to facing the Ducks, the Buckeyes will also take on Illinois State and Central Arkansas while in Eugene, Ore.
