Ohio State WVB Adds All-America Honorable Mention to Roster
June 2, 2014
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State women's volleyball head coach Geoff Carlston has announced the addition of Tyler Richardson, a transfer from Middle Tennessee State University. Richardson earned 2013 All-America Honorable Mention from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and has two years of eligibility remaining for the Buckeyes starting immediately with the 2014 season.
"We are excited to have Tyler joining our Buckeye volleyball family," said Carlston. "She is a very talented player who will add great experience to our middle hitter core".
Richardson led Conference USA and ranked 13th nationally with a .414 hitting percentage last season, earning both All-Conference USA First Team and AVCA South All-Region recognition. The .414 attacking clip ranks second all-time for a single-season at MTSU. The Ypsilanti, Mich., native etched her name in the Blue Raider record books with 149 and 129 blocks assists during the past two seasons, slotting seventh and eighth, respectively, in school history. Richardson's defensive prowess is further evidenced by a 1.18 blocks per set rate that ranked second in Conference-USA and second all-time at Middle Tennessee.
Richardson picked up Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 23, 2013 after hitting .488 (24-4-41) with 1.33 blocks per set at the Mizzou Classic.
