Ohio State Releases 2013 Schedule

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team has released its 2013 fall schedule that includes four tournaments and 13 home matches. The Buckeyes will face 10 teams that competed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, including six that reached the Sweet Sixteen.
“We have a very strong schedule put together for this year with 10 of our preseason opponents having won 20 or more matches last year,” head coach Geoff Carlston said. “We will be a young and exciting team next season. Our schedule will take us all over the country and allow us to compete against a wide variety of teams.”
The Buckeyes kick off the season with four tournaments, opening their slate at Northern Illinois for three matches Aug. 30-31. The squad follows with a tournament a Florida State Sept. 6-7 that includes 2012 NCAA Tournament participants Florida State and Western Kentucky. Ohio State then hosts its own Sports Imports DC Koehl Classic Sept. 13-14, welcoming Southeastern Missouri, IUPUI and Xavier to St. John Arena. The team’s final tournament is set for Sept. 20-21 in Buffalo, N.Y.
The Scarlet and Gray opens Big Ten play at home, hosting rivals Michigan and Michigan State Sept. 27-28. Ohio State will play nine home-and-home series in the conference, while playing a single match vs. Nebraska in St. John Arena (Oct. 25) and then at Iowa in the regular season finale, Nov. 30.
Also among the team’s schedule is an exhibition against the Polish National Team Sept. 4. The match is tentatively set for 7 p.m. in St. John Arena.
