Feb. 22, 2013
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State women's volleyball team has added Valeria León to its 2013 roster, Ohio State head coach Geoff Carlston announced. León joins the incoming trio of Taylor Sandbothe, Kylie Randall and Maggie Heim as next year's freshman class.
"I liked Valeria the first minute I saw her play and we are happy she chose to become a Buckeye," Carlston said. "She plays the game with great spirit and intensity every time she steps on the court."
León is currently a member of the Youth Puerto Rico National Team and recently was a member of the 2013 Costa Caribe Volleyball Challenge champion team. León started at libero in both the Puerto Rico National High School All-Star Game and the South Conference All-Star Game in 2012.
The 5-6 defensive specialist from Ponce, Puerto Rico, led her 17U team to the Power League West Coast title and was named to the All-American team. León has also been a member of the Puerto Rico National team 14U and 16U teams.
