Locked at eight in set one, a three-point Seminole run forced Ohio State to take its first timeout at 11-8. A kill by Sherwin and a Kacsits service ace tied the score at 13 apiece and a 3-0 Buckeye run gave the visitors a 20-17 lead. FSU bounced back and reached its first set point at 24-22. The Seminoles capitalized on Buckeye errors at the end set to win the first, 29-27.
Kills from Sandbothe and Sherwin led to a 5-3 lead to start set two. A Leary kill sent the Buckeyes on a four-point run to take a 13-10 lead, but FSU rallied to tie it up at 16 apiece. At 22-22, kills by Leary and Kacsits gave Ohio State set point and back-to-back kills from Randall pushed the Buckeyes to a 26-24 win.
Ohio State benefitted from early Seminole errors to jump out to a 5-1 lead in the third set. More FSU errors pushed the Buckeyes ahead at 8-4 and an 8-1 Ohio State run gave the team to a 20-9 advantage. A kill from Sherwin sealed a 25-14 victory.
Back-to-back Leary kills and a Valeria León service ace gave Ohio State an early 7-4 lead in the fourth. A Randall kill followed by a Randall/Faul block set the score 12-7 before the Seminoles began to chip away at the Buckeye lead. FSU came within a point at 17-16, but another Randall/Faul block triggered a 6-1 Ohio State run and a kill from Leary gave the team a 25-20 win.
Ohio State closes out the Four Points by Sheraton Seminole Invitational Saturday with a 12 p.m. match vs. Florida Gulf Coast.
