COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s track and field head coach Karen Dennis announced on Friday the promotion of Rosalind Joseph to the position of associate head coach.

Joseph, an Ohio State alum, became an assistant coach for the Ohio State women’s track and field program in July of 2008. Prior to her time as assistant coach for the Buckeyes, she spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Auburn University.

“Rosalind has received this promotion because her skills and job performance are comparable to that of a head coach,” Dennis said. “Her assistance in our program is a primary reason our team has been able to perform at a championship level.”

Joseph primarily works with jumpers and multi-eventers. She has helped the Buckeye jump squad develop into one of the Big Ten’s best.  During Joseph’s time as assistant coach at Ohio State, Kelcey McKinney won the 2011 Big Ten outdoor triple title and Ashley Galbraith qualified for the NCAA East preliminaries. Galbraith went on to compete at the NCAA Championships and earned Honorable Mention All-American honors.

“I believed that Rosalind’s familiarity with Ohio State, as well as her accomplishments as both student and athlete would resonate to young prospects in an attractive manner. Over the years she has grown professionally as both coach and administrator and has gained the respect and admiration of our student athletes and the coaching community,” Dennis said.

Joseph was also a former standout student-athlete at Ohio State. A two-time All-American in the triple jump, Joseph placed fifth at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Championships and sixth at the 2004 championships. She is a six-time Big Ten champion and still holds the Ohio State records in the outdoor triple jump, the indoor triple jump and the indoor and outdoor long jump. She competed at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials in the triple jump and finished ninth in the triple jump at the 2005 USA Track and Field Championships.
