COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s track and field team travels to Orlando, Fla., this Friday and Saturday, March 22-23, for the UCF Invitational.

Alexis Franklin Named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week
Freshman Alexis Franklin was named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week by the league office March 20 for her performance at the Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C., last weekend.
Franklin, a native of Millersville, Md., placed first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.28 seconds, which ranks second in the NCAA this season. She also came in third in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 13.79.
The outdoor track and field weekly award is the first for Franklin and first for Ohio State since Christina Manning claimed the honor on April 25, 2012.
Buckeyes Ranked No. 44 in USTFCCCA Preseason Rankings
Ohio State checked-in at No. 44 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) preseason team rankings for Division I, released March 18.
Seven Big Ten teams are featured in the Top 50: No. 16 Illinois, No. 19 Nebraska, No. 20 Penn State, No. 25 Michigan State, No. 37 Wisconsin, No. 40 Michigan and the Buckeyes. Kansas is the No. 1-ranked team in the country, followed by No. 2 Oregon and third-ranked Arizona.

Ohio State opened its 2013 outdoor season this past Thursday-Saturday at the Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The weekend was highlighted by a pair of wins in the 4x100m and 4x800m relays and impressive performances by Ohio State's short- and long-distance hurdlers. The winning time of 8:56.55 by the 4x8 team of SoSo Walker, Rebecca Rings, Katie Betts and Janel Olberding was an Ohio State outdoor record.
The Buckeyes head west for the Jim Click Shootout April 6 in Tucson, Ariz.
