COLUMBUS, Ohio – Freshman Alexis Franklin of the Ohio State women’s track and field team has been named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week by the league office for her performance at the Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C., this past weekend.

Franklin, a native of Millersville, Md., placed first in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.28 seconds, which ranks second in the NCAA this season. She also came in third in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 13.79.

This is the first outdoor track and field weekly award for Franklin and first for Ohio State since Christina Manning claimed the honor on April 25, 2012.

The Buckeyes are back in action March 22-23 at the UCF Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
