Abraham to Represent OSU at 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships
March 13, 2014
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Redshirt senior Ashlee Abraham will be the lone representative for the Ohio State women’s track and field team this weekend at the 2014 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships taking place March 14-15 in Albuquerque, N.M.
The Detroit, Mich., native will compete for a national championship in the 60-meter dash, the event that she took home the gold medal in at the 2014 Big Ten indoor championships March 1. At the B1G championships, which were held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, Abraham sprinted to a championship time of 7.31 seconds.
This will mark the first appearance for Abraham at the indoor championships. She was a two-time Second Team All-American at the 2013 NCAA outdoor championships last spring in the 200-meter dash and as part of the 4x100-meter relay team.
The Buckeyes did have one other member of the team qualify for the 2014 NCAA indoor championships. Redshirt junior Chesna Sykes also had a good enough time in the 60-meter dash to earn a trip to New Mexico but will not return to competition until the 2014 outdoor season gets underway.
A product of Columbus, Sykes ran a personal-best time of 7.30 seconds in the 60-meter earlier this season at the Armory Collegiate Invitational in New York City.
