Buckeyes Travel to Geneva for SPIRE Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State women's track and field team competes at the SPIRE NCAA Division I Team Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14-15, in Geneva, Ohio.
Events from the SPIRE Institute, host of the 2014 Big Ten Indoor Championships, are scheduled to begin at approximately 2 p.m. ET Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday. A complete recap will be available after the meet at www.OhioStateBuckeyes.com.

Abraham Named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week
Redshirt senior Ashlee Abraham was named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week by the conference office Monday, the second Big Ten weekly award of her career.
Abraham captured gold in the 60-meter run at the Armory Collegiate Invitational this past weekend in New York. Her personal-best time of 7.29 seconds ranks her third all-time at Ohio State in the event and seventh in the nation so far this season.
Abraham also competed in the 200-meter run at the Armory, placing sixth with a time of 24.28.
The weekly award from the conference is the second for the Buckeyes this season (Chesna Sykes, Jan. 13).

Adenike Pedro: Student-Athlete Spotlight
Senior Adenike Pedro is this week's Ohio State Student-Athlete spotlight.

A 2013 All-Big Ten selection, Pedro competed in four events at the 2013 Big Ten Outdoor Championships placing third in the 200 meter, fourth in the 100 meter and long jump, and helping the 4x100-meter relay team to a gold medal. The Glenn Dale, Md., native went on to compete in three events at the NCAA East Regional and earned Second-Team All-America honors as a member of the 4x100-meter team at the NCAA championships. Pedro also excels in the classroom as she is a two-time Ohio State Scholar Athlete.

Scarlet and Gray Ranked No. 46 in USTFCCCA Poll
Ohio State is the 46th-ranked team in the nation according to the third regular-season edition of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I National Team Computer Rankings.
The Buckeyes are one of seven Big Ten women's programs in the Top 50. Texas is the top-ranked team in the country according to the poll, while Oregon comes in at No. 2 and Texas A&M at No. 3.

Last Time Out
The Buckeyes competed last Friday and Saturday at the Armory Collegeiate Invitational in New York City.

Abraham was the star of the weekend for Ohio State, capturing a gold medal in the 60-meter dash and sixth place in the 200. Junior Abie Ehimwenman also enjoyed a successful weekend, posting a personal-best mark of 6.10 meters (20-0.25) in the long jump on her way to fourth place.
