COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s track and field team returns to French Field House Friday, Feb. 15 for the Buckeye Tune-Up. The meet will serve as the Buckeyes’ final regular-season event prior to next week’s Big Ten championships.

Throwing events are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. ET, with competition on the track set for 6 p.m. Admission is free.

French Field House
Completed in November 1956 at a cost of $1,010,000, French Field House was designed for indoor track and field meets but is also used as a practice facility for a number of varsity squads at Ohio State.

A $1.3 million renovation project inside the field house was completed in October 2009. Renovations included:

• An all-new 200-meter state-of-the-art track and indoor field competition surface
• Brand new bleachers along the south side with a capacity of 800
• New long jump/triple jump pits
• Permanent throws area
• Re-painting of interior roof, steel beams and walls

The field house was named in honor of Prof. William E. French, who was the Western Conference faculty representative for The Ohio State University for 32 years.

Buckeyes Ranked No. 81 in USTFCCCA Week Four Poll
Ohio State checked-in at No. 81 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) team rankings for Division I, released Feb. 12.

Three Big Ten teams are featured in the Top 50: No. 15 Illinois, No. 17 Michigan and No. 45 Michigan State.

In the Great Lakes regional rankings Ohio State sits at No. 4 behind Michigan, Kent State and Notre Dame. Wisconsin completes the Top 5.

Buckeyes in the Individual Top 25
Six members of the women's track and field team find themselves ranked within the Top 25 in several event areas nationally according to Track & Field Results Reporting System (www.TFRRS.org). A look at where the Buckeyes sit:

• Aisha Cavin – No. 16 in the 200m
• Katie Borchers – No. 20 in the DMR and No. 23 in the 800m
• Alexis Thomas – No. 21 in the weight throw
• Janel Olberding – No. 23 in the DMR
• SoSo Walker – No. 23 in the DMR
• Tori Brink – No. 23 in the DMR

Last Time Out
The Ohio State women’s track and field team competed at the SPIRE NCAA Division I Invitational in Geneva, Ohio, last Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8-9.

Highlights included a school record in the 800m from Borchers (2:07.11), an impressive 200m performance from Cavin (23.63), and improved times from both the Distance Medley (11:30.76) and 4x400m relay (3:40.32) teams.
