DES MOINES, Iowa – Ohio State’s 4x100m relay team finished in fifth place in the semifinals on the first day of the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
Christienne Linton, Christina Manning, Aisha Cavin and Chesna Sykes combined in the relay to finish fifth overall and first in their heat in 43.87. LSU will enter the finals as the fastest relay team after winning their heat in 42.68.
Shaniqua McGinnis and Nyjah Cousar competed in the 400m dash and 400m hurdles, respectively, but neither qualified for the finals. McGinnis ran a 53.44 and Cousar finished the hurdles in 58.41. Oregon’s Phyllis Francis (51.22) place first in the 400m dash semifinals and UCLA’s Turquoise Thompson (55.59) claimed the top spot in the 400m hurdles semifinals.
