OXFORD, Ohio – After one day of competition in the All-Ohio Championships, the Buckeyes have the lead with 35 points scored through four events. Student-athletes from 15 universities in Ohio are competing in Oxford this weekend for bragging rights within the Buckeye State and the team title.
With PR performances, Maggie Mullen (62.42m/204-9) and Alexis Thomas (59.61m/195-7) went 1-2 in the hammer throw for a combined 18 points for the Scarlet and Gray. Mullen’s throw is the third-best mark in Ohio State history and Thomas’ throw is good for No. 6 in school history. Carly Pendleton placed 11th with a PR mark of 50.28m (164-11). Mullen also scored in the javelin where she placed third with a throw of 43.83m (143-09).
As the lone Buckeye in the 10000m race, Mallory Kreider (37:32.96) took third to collect six points for Ohio State.
More Buckeyes will take to the track Saturday in Oxford with another contingent competing in the Tom Jones Memorial Classic at the University of Florida Saturday as well.
