COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s track and field team enjoyed warm weather and challenging competition Friday and Saturday at the UCF Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
Ohio State’s sprinters and hurdlers turned in solid times and performances for the second week in a row, while field athletes posted improved marks across the board.
Here are highlights from the two-day meet in Orlando:
Ohio State finished 2-3-4 in the event. Sophomore Alexandria Johnson was the runner-up in 13.85 seconds, followed by freshman Alexis Franklin (14.06) and senior Christienne Linton (14.13). UCF’s Lutisha Bowen won the race in a time of 13.15.
Abraham placed fourth in a time of 24.11. Faulknor of UCF claimed first place in 23.64 seconds.
Freshman SoSo Walker turned in a seventh-place time of 55.14. Mary Wineberg, represented by Brooks, won the event in a time of 52.44.
Pedro cleared 5.87m (19-3.25) for a fifth-place finish. Jen Clayton of UCF was first at 6.17m (20-3.00).
Seventh place went to sophomore Carly Pendleton at 45.45m (149-1.00). Illinois State’s Brittany Smith was the winner with a mark of 53.80m (176-6.00).
Johnson, Walker, freshman Bri Neitzel and sophomore Janel Olberding combined for a third-place time of 3:42.28. Star Athletics claimed first place in 3:37.93.
