LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 14 Ohio State completed day one at the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet Friday night at the University of Kentucky’s Nutter Fieldhouse.
The Scarlet and Gray competed in the weight throw and long jump. Senior Kelcey McKinney and junior Alexis Thomas led their respective events for the Buckeyes. McKinney finished the day taking fourth in the long jump with a top mark of 5.88m (19-3.5). Thomas, competing against several of the nation’s top throwers, used a mark of 18.73m (61-5.5) to place fourth in the weight throw.
Christienne Linton also made the top 10 in the long jump, placing ninth (5.81m/19-0.75). With a leap of 5.50m (18-0.5), Rachael Mack finished 20th. Mississippi’s Deonna Walton won the event (6.03m/19-9.5).
In the weight throw, Katie Groseclose used a mark of 15.25m (50-0.5) to take 18th. Carly Pendleton finished 29th (12.51m/41-0.5). Jeneva McCall from Southern Illinois won with a mark of 21.47m (70-5.25). McCall also holds the mark for the nation’s top throw this season from a previous meet.
