Sanford Signs NLI with Ohio State
Anna Sanford will join head coach Melissa Schaub and the Buckeyes in Fall 2014.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Anna Sanford, a senior standout at Olentangy Orange High School in Lewis Center, Ohio, has signed a National Letter of Intent with the Ohio State women's tennis team, head coach Melissa Schaub announced. Sanford will enroll in Ohio State and join the women's tennis program in Fall 2014.
"We are incredibly excited to announce the signing of Anna," Schaub said. "Anna is a local talent that bleeds Scarlet and Gray. She will make an immediate impact on this program both on and off the court. This is a great day for the Ohio State tennis program."
Sanford, a blue chip recruit who earned the 2013 USTA National Scholar-Athlete Award, is currently ranked as the No. 1 female singles player in the Midwest and No. 24 nationally. She won the 2013 Division I state doubles championship her senior season and was a state singles quarterfinalist as both a freshman and sophomore. A first team all-state selection in 2011 and '13, Sanford was a member of Marian Wood Baird Cup championship teams in 2012 and `13 and was a member of the Midwest squad that was a finalist at the USTA National Team Championships in July. The Sanford family was the 2013 GCTA Tennis Family of the Year award recipient.
Sanford also carries an unweighted 3.9 GPA and is a member of National Honor Society. She has volunteered with 10U tennis programs and the Buddy Up Tennis program to teach athletes with Down Syndrome tennis. She has served as an editor on the Olentangy Orange yearbook staff and won an Ohio Scholastic Media Association Yearbook Photo `Excellent' as a sophomore.
