COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team, two-time defending Big Ten regular season champion, will host 10 regular season matches in Columbus in the spring, including serving as a host site for ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Buckeyes’ road slate for 2018 includes trips to Miami, Texas and California, along with six Big Ten matches away from Columbus.
The Buckeyes begin the spring in Miami, where they will join the host Hurricanes, Vanderbilt and Kentucky for the Miami Spring Invite Jan. 19-21.
The following week (Jan. 26-27), Kansas, Arkansas and Wake Forest come to Columbus for ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Buckeyes, serving as hosts for the second year in a row, will take on the Jayhawks in the first round. The winners will face off on day two with a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship (Feb. 9-12) on the line. Ohio State has earned a spot in the tournament each of the last two years.
The Buckeyes will host nonconference matches vs. Kentucky Jan. 31 and Notre Dame Feb. 4. Big Ten play begins with a road match at Penn State Feb. 22.
After a match at home vs. Arizona State Feb. 25, Ohio State will head to Texas for matches with Baylor (March 2) and Texas (March 4). A one-match stop in Columbus follows, with a conference tilt vs. Nebraska March 7.
The Buckeyes will take on California in Berkeley March 19 in the final nonconference match of the regular season.
Ohio State returns to Big Ten play at Iowa March 25 before back-to-back home matches vs. Michigan and Michigan State March 30 and April 1. The next four matches will be on the road, taking on Minnesota April 6, Wisconsin April 8, Indiana April 13 and Purdue April 15.
The regular season ends with a pair of home matches, with Illinois April 20 and Northwestern April 22.
Minnesota will serve as host of the 2018 Big Ten Tournament, scheduled for April 26-29. Ohio State is the two-time defending champion of the conference tourney.
