COLUMBUS, Ohio - Holly Vargo-Brown, head coach of the Ohio State synchronized swimming team, announced six more swimmers will join the Buckeye roster in 2015. Noelle St. John, a native of Dublin, Ohio, highlights this latest group of incoming freshmen, which also includes Quinn Connor, Jessica Giannuzzi, Elizabeth Hernandez, Shea Ramsey and Lizzie Welzien.
"We are very fortunate to again have a strong incoming class of freshmen, both athletically and academically, who are determined to continue the tradition of excellence established by Ohio State synchronized swimming," Vargo-Brown said. "I am looking forward to helping them reach and achieve their personal and team goals."
St. John, who is a member of the club team Indy Synchro, is currently training with the U.S. Junior National Team, which will compete in Finland at the Junior World Championships July 30-Aug. 5.
"As a hometown Buckeye, I know Noelle is very excited to represent Ohio State next year," Vargo-Brown, said. "Her training with the U.S. Junior National team has really begun to pay off in terms of her skill improvement and I expect her to do great things as a member of our team."
Vargo-Brown announced earlier this spring Alyssa Hoying (release) and Monica Velasquez-Stiak (release) would join the Buckeyes in 2015. Hoying is a three-time U.S. National Team Member and earned the U.S. Senior National High Point Individual Award at the 2014 U.S. Senior National Championships. Like St. John, Velasquez-Stiak was named to the U.S. Junior National Team. In all, eight newcomers will be part of the team next season.
