COLUMBUS, Ohio – Incoming freshman Alyssa Hoying is set to join the Ohio State synchronized swimming team in the 2014-15 season. Hoying, the daughter of four-time Buckeye letterwinner Pam Millard Hoying (1981-1984), is a member of Indy Synchro and is coached by former Buckeye Stephanie Raftery.

A three-time U.S. National Team Member, Hoying most recently earned the U.S. Senior National High Point Individual Award at the 2014 U.S. Senior National Championships in Oro Valley, Ariz. After posting first-place finishes in solo, duet and team, Hoying collected the North Zone Senior High Point Individual Award and was named North Zone Athlete of the Year. Academically, she holds a 4.12 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society.

“I expect Alyssa to make an immediate impact on the success of next year’s team, both athletically and academically,” Holly Vargo-Brown, Ohio State head coach, said. “She has only just begun to tap into her potential as one of the top synchronized swimmers in the country and we are really looking forward to her being a part of our Buckeye family next fall.”

The Scarlet and Gray concluded the 2014 campaign with six first-place and two second-place finishes, including capturing the U.S. Senior National Championship April 12 in their final event of the season.
