COLUMBUS, Ohio- The Ohio State synchronized swimming team will compete against Florida Saturday in its last regular-season meet of the season. The trip to Gainesville will be the first for the Buckeyes since a 45-45 tie in 2008.
Last Time Out
Ohio State's Scarlet and Gray squads parted for two away meets Feb. 11. The Scarlet Squad competed at Wheaton College while the Gray Squad took on Richmond. The Scarlet Team fared well at the Wheaton College Invitational against Canisius, Wheaton, Boston and Smith. With 92 total points, Ohio State finished first. Yuliya Maryanko won the solo routine as the lone Buckeye competing with a score of 91.667. Maryanko and Paige Ramsey (89.333) used their duet routine to claim another victory. Also competing in the duet event was Lauren Nicholson and Lauren Robinson. The pair finished in a three-way tie for third with 85.333 points.
Ohio State placed third and fourth in the trio competition. Java Nikbakht, Robinson and Khadija Zanotto used a score of 86.0 to take third and Maryanko, Ramsey and Alex Beckett finished fourth with 85.667 points. The Scarlet Squad had the top performance in the team competition with a score of 89.0. Colleen Courtmanche, Beckett, Chelsea Aton, Nicholson, Robinson, Zanotto, Nikbakht and Katie Spada combined for that winning team routine.
At Richmond, the Gray Squad swept the top routine spots.
Jane Kok (83.333) and
Krissy Irwin (82.167) finished first and second with their solo routines. The duet of
Kayley Colville and
Jenny Mann took first with a score of 84.33. Ohio State entered two trios in the competition and both tied for first with 84.833 points.
Lara Tutton, Kok and
Caitlin Hoffman made up one trio while
Samantha Golomb,
Julia Gaylard and
Natalie Gaylard made up the second trio. Irwin,
Katie LaBounty, Colville, Mann, Hoffman, Tutton, Kok and
Heidi Lou combined for the team routine to seal the victory with a score of 87.500.
