Ohio State Places Fourth at U.S. Senior National Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Behind three second place finishes, the Ohio State synchronized swimming team finished fourth in the 2013 Swimoutlet.com U.S. Senior National Championships Saturday in Greensboro, N.C. Three-time U.S. Collegiate All-American Yuliya Maryanko was awarded the Senior Individual High Point Award with a total of 15.5 points at the event.

With a mark of 168.6375, Maryanko earned second place in the solo competition. Lindenwood's Mary Killman was named the U.S. Solo National Champion with a score of 173.7250.  Killman also earned first place finishes at the U.S. Collegiate Championships and North Regional Championships this season.

Maryanko collected her second silver medal at the event alongside U.S. Collegiate Athlete of the Year Paige Ramsey in the duet competition with a 167.5375. Lindenwood's Reem Abdalazem and Anouk Eman were the top performers with a score of 168.0250.

The Scarlet Team placed second in the team routine competition with a score of 169.4125. The Walnut Creek Aquamaids captured first with a score of 170.1000, a .5875 margin more than the Buckeyes. The Scarlet Team features Chelsea Aton, Colleen Courtmanche, Maryanko, Lauren Nicholson, Kayley Colville, Ramsey, Katie Spada and Khadija Zanotto.


 

 

The Gray Team, consisting of Samantha Golomb, Julia Gaylard, Natalie Gaylard, Caitlin Hoffman, Kristine Irwin, Emily Muma, Heidi Liou and Jenny Mann, posted a score of 162.6125 to finish in fifth place.

This season, the Buckeyes notched six first-place finishes, including their 23rd-consecutive North Regional Championship, as well as a second-place finish at the U.S. Collegiate Championships in Palo Alto, Calif.
