Ohio State Claims First Place at Jessica Beck Memorial Meet with 93 points

COLUMBUS, Ohio -The Ohio State synchronized swimming team hosted its last event of the regular season, the Jessica Beck Memorial Meet Saturday at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes finished first with a score of 93, Miami University Marlins came in second with 55 points, William & Mary was third with 44 points, Ball State scored 23 points to come in fourth place and University of Michigan came in fifth with eight points.
Up next, Ohio State will travel to Virginia where it will face Richmond Feb. 9 in Richmond, Va., The following day, the Buckeyes will head to Williamsburg, Va., where they will take on William & Mary.
The afternoon began with the trio routine where Buckeyes Kayley Colville, Katie Spada and Khadija Zanotto earned first place with a score of 85.500. Teammates Paige Ramsey, Lauren Nicholson and Chelsea Aton came in second (84.250) while William & Mary’s trio of Kira Schall, Becca Schall and Kara Gadeken finished third (78.500). The Buckeye trio of Samantha Golomb, Natalie Gaylard and Julia Gaylard performed an honors routine and scored an 80.500.
Ramsey and Yuliya Maryanko paired up to take first place in the duet competition with a score of 88.250. Schall and Gadaken of William & Mary came in second (78.750) while Miami’s Erica Hegedus and Jeanie Peters came in third (71.750).
Two-time collegiate national solo champion Maryanko claimed first place in the solo competition with a score of 90.250. Miami University’s Erica Hegedus came in second (74.500) and Gadeken and Schall of William & Mary tied third (73.2500). Kristine Irwin of Ohio State was an honors performer and recorded an 83.750.
Ohio State’s Scarlet team- Aton, Colville, Katie LaBounty, Maryanko, Nicholson, Ramsey, Spada and Zanotto- finished in first place in the team competition with a score of 90.500. Ohio State’s Gray squad - Jenny Mann, Caitlin Hoffman, Isabella Conrad, N. Gaylard, J. Gaylard, Irwin, Samantha Golomb and Heidi Liou- came in second (86.500) while Miami University finished in third (67.000).
