Li Recognized as Big Ten Co-Freshmen of the Week
COLUMBUS, Ohio - Zhesi Li, a member of the Ohio State women's swimming and diving team, was named Big Ten Co-Freshmen of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. It marks the first conference honor the Shenyang, China, native has received during in her collegiate career, as well as the first claimed by a Buckeye this season.
Li recently led the Buckeyes to decisive dual meet wins over Princeton and Denison. Competing in six events over the two-day meet, Li went undefeated claiming top times in the 200 freestyle relay, 50 freestyle, 400 medley relay, 200 medley relay, 100 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay. A strong contributor for the team, Li holds the fastest time for Ohio State in two individual events.
Li currently ranks seventh in the 50 freestyle on USA Swimming's NCAA Division I Top Times. She has also recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 50 freestyle.
The Buckeyes will have a short, well-deserved break from competition before hosting the always competitive Ohio State Invitational, Nov. 21-23.
