Lindsey Clary Named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week
Columbus, Ohio-- Junior Lindsey Clary has been named the Big Ten's Co-Swimmer of the Week after her stellar performance against Ohio last Friday.
In the Buckeyes 211-85 team win over the visiting Bobcats, Clary placed first in each event she entered: 1000 freestyle (9:54.96), 500 freestyle (4:53.88), and 200 IM (2:04.08). Her first two events she won by impressively large margins: 18 seconds and 10 seconds, respectively. Her time in the 1000 freestyle is currently the fourth-fastest among fellow NCAA swimmers.
“Lindsey has some big goals for the upcoming year," said head coach Bill Dorenkott. "She is deserving of her successes because she dreams big and backs it up with hard work every day."
That hard work has paid off so far this season. In addition to her fantastic day against Ohio, the Riverside, California native and 2014-15 Honorable Mention All-American also swam very well in Ohio State's season-opening meet earlier this month, helping the Buckeyes to a first-place finish as a team at the FGCU Invite.
Clary and the rest of her team return to the pool this Friday, Oct. 30, to host Kenyon at 6 pm before heading up to West Lafayette on Saturday for a competition against Purdue and Notre Dame at 3:30 pm.
