Amy Bopp Named B1G Freshman of the Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Amy Bopp, a freshman on the Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team, was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. Bopp, a native of Clifton Park, N.Y., earns her first career weekly honor.
Bopp was outstanding in the Buckeyes’ 195-104 win over the University of Kentucky Oct. 11 to open the 2013-14 campaign. In her first collegiate meet, she swept the breaststroke events, touching the wall in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke with times of 1:04.23 and 2:18.05, respectively. She also placed second in the 200 medley relay, helping her squad notch a time of 1:44.41.
Up next, the Buckeyes (1-0) will host their annual Scarlet and Gray intrasquad meet at 5 p.m. Friday at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. As always, admission is free.
