After recently competing at the 2013 Canadian Summer National Championships in Pointe-Claire, Quebec, rising senior Michelle Williams returned to Columbus with three silver medals in her possession. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Williams claimed the runner-up spot in three of her four events at the meet.
Williams kicked off the competition with a second-place showing in the 50 butterfly in a time of 27.35. She continued onto the 100 freestyle event, where she placed first in prelims with a time of 55.89. Moving onto finals, Williams touched second in the 100 freestyle in 56.24.
In the 100 butterfly, Williams placed 16th in 1:02.81. She rounded out the competition with her third second-place finish of the meet in the 50 freestyle (25.91).
As a buckeye, Williams is a two-time All-Big Ten selection and NCAA qualifier. Earlier this summer she competed at the Canadian World Championship Trials in Victoria, B.C. At the meet, she placed sixth in the 50 freestyle with a personal-best time of 25.90. The time marked the first time Williams had cracked the 26-second mark in the event.
