COLUMBUS, Ohio - Vince Panzano, head coach of the Ohio State diving team, has been named to the USA diving coaching staff for the 2012 London Olympics. Panzano, a USOC accredited NGB appointed coach, will coach in his fourth Olympics as former Buckeye and Olympian Katie Bell will compete in the women's 10-meter platform event.
Panzano, who has been at the helm of the OSU diving program for 33 years, has now sent nine divers to the Olympics. Overall, the Buckeyes have now had 42 divers make the Olympics. One of the most highly respected diving coaches, Panzano has coached in three previous Olympics, including 1984 (Los Angeles), 1988 (Seoul) and 1996 (Atlanta).
The women's 10-meter platform begins with the prelims at 2 p.m. ET Aug. 8 in London.
