800 Freestyle Relay Team Highlights Buckeyes' Second Day at NCAA Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 800 freestyle relay team of Alex Norris, Phoebe Cater, Aliena Schmidtke and Katy Luchansky picked up honorable mention All-America status with a 13th place finish to highlights Ohio State’s efforts on the second night of the NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Minneapolis.
Norris, Cater, Schmidtke and Luchansky touched the wall in 7:06.60, just .11 behind UCLA, which finished the 12th place.
Other notable efforts for the Buckeyes included Norris placing 22nd in the 200 freestyle (1:45.61), Lindsey Clary finishing 47th in the 400 individual medley (4:18.12) and Taylor Vargo touching the wall in 1:02.02 for 45th in the 100 breaststroke.
The NCAA Championships wrap up tomorrow with the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, platform diving and 400 freestyle relay.
