COLUMBUS, Ohio - Michelle Williams, Alex Norris, Lindsey Clary and Ashley Vance represented the Ohio State women's swimming and diving team on the opening day of the 2014 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, being held this year on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
In the preliminary round, Norris had Ohio State's best finish - 18th overall in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:41.05. In the same event, Clary was 60th (4:49.72).
Vance, the Big Ten champion in the 200 individual medley, placed 24th in the prelims with a time of 1:57.57. To round out the Buckeye performances, Williams was 32nd in the 50 freestyle (22.50).
The championships continue tomorrow with the 200 medley relay, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 800 freestyle relay and 3-meter diving.
