After a successful showing at the 2012 Big Ten Championships, members from the women's swimming and diving team spent time with OhioStateBuckeyes.com to discuss their performances at the title meet.
Leading the way for the Buckeyes was senior Bianca Alvarez, who claimed two individual titles in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Alvarez posted an impressive score of 360.65 in the finals of the 1-meter to capture her first title after recording two second place and two third place finishes at previous Big Ten championship meets.
Fellow diver, Cheyenne Cousineau completed the diving sweep for the Scarlet and Gray with a win on the 10-meter platform. Like Alvarez, this was Cousineau's first win at the conference championships and followed up nicely to her third place performance on the 1-meter on the second day of competition.
On the swimming side, Ohio State's sole champion was junior Shannon Draves, who took home the title in the 200 butterfly. Finishing in 1:56.35, Draves' time was both an Ohio State and pool record.
