No. 19 Buckeyes Stand Fourth at Ohio State Invitational After Day Two

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The 19th-ranked Ohio State women's swimming and diving team concluded its second day of competition at the Ohio State Invitational Saturday in fourth place with 417.5 total points. Competing at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, Virginia sits on top the team leaderboard with 766 points, while Florida trails in a close second with 717.
The Buckeyes opened with the 200 medley relay contingent of Reanna Dona, Rachael Dzierzak, Alex Norris and Ashley Vance taking sixth in a season-best time of 1:42.18. Freshman Lindsey Clary was Ohio State's top finisher in the next event, the 400 individual medley. Clary swam to a 12th-place finish with a finals time of 4:15.01.
Moving on to the 100 butterfly, junior Aliena Schmidtke placed fifth in a personal-best 53.58. With her effort, the Buckeyes picked up 14 points toward their total effort. Norris, a senior this season, then completed the 200 freestyle in 1:47.25 for fifth place.
In the 100 breaststroke, freshman Taylor Vargo earned OSU's top individual finish of the evening with a third-place showing (1:02.30). Sophomore Camey Rabold followed it up with a seventh-place effort in the 100 backstroke (55.45).
From the diving well, junior Taylor Ford received 256.20 in the finals of the 1-meter competition for seventh.
The third and final day of the Ohio State Invitational will begin with preliminary competition at 9 a.m. Finals are scheduled for a 3 p.m. start time.
