— Ohio State hosted Cleveland state on Friday afternoon at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion and won 184-103 to start its weekend on the right foot. The Buckeyes are now 3-0 in dual meets on the year, having defeated three fellow Ohioans- Kenyon, Denison, and now Cleveland State.

Elizabeth Auckley, Molly Washko, Meg Bailey, and Cheyenne Meek kicked things off with the 200 medley relay, finishing in first place with a time of 1:43.94. Former Big Ten Rookie of the Week Mikayla Murphy then took first place in the 1000 freestyle (10:22.88) before Maria Coy outpaced the field in the 200 freestyle (1:50.87).

A pair of first place finishes followed for Ohio State. Kaitlyn Ferrara took the top spot in the 100 backstroke (57.49) and Bailey came out on top again, this time individually in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.76). Cleveland State then earned its first event win of the afternoon in the 200 butterfly; Ohio State’s top finisher in that event was Lindsey Clary, who was just a tenth of a second behind the leader.

Li got the Buckeyes back on top, winning the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.70, the fastest time in that event by an OSU swimmer this season. The first diving result of the afternoon rolled in around this time; Haley Allen placed first on three-meter for the Buckeyes with a score of 287.10. Allen would also reign supreme on one-meter, winning with a mark of 272.03.

Coming out of the break Cleveland State won the 100 freestyle; Ohio State’s top finisher was freshman Quinn Fike (54.40). After that, the Buckeyes won the remaining six events, a great way to wrap up its third dual meet of the year.

Amanda McNulty won two of those six events: the 200 backstroke (2:05.35) and the 100 butterfly (55.93); Bailey finished in first for the third time today in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.36); Kathrin Demler was the only finisher in the 500 freestyle to go sub-5:00 (4:57.95); Kathleen Cook touched the wall first in the 200 IM (2:07.46); and the relay group of Coy, Lucija Jurkovic, Fike, and Murphy ended Ohio State’s day on a high note, swimming the fastest time in the 400 freestyle relay (3:33.88).

The Buckeyes return to the pool tomorrow, Saturday, for a dual meet against Miami (OH). Competition will begin at 1 p.m.
