Buckeyes Capture Win vs. Vikings, 167-61

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s swimming diving team took down in-state competitor Cleveland State Thursday night at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, by a score of 167-61. The Buckeyes were victorious all 11 swimming events, while earning two first-place scores in diving competition.

A strong contingent of Zulal Zeren, Rachael Dzierzak, Chantel Wynn and Zhesi Li set the tone for the evening when they captured the first Buckeyes’ first win in the 200 Medley Relay (1:46.85). 

Senior Ashley Vance followed in winning fashion when she touched the wall at 10:17.80 in the 1000 freestyle. Erin Dunseith, a native of Reisterstown, Md., picked up her first victory of the evening in the 200 freestyle (1:52.75). 


 

 

Annelise Sprau continued building momentum for the squad by claiming first place in the 50 freestyle in a time of 24.09. She was followed by teammate Lindsey Clary, who asserted a victory in the 200 individual medley in 2:04.22.

Following a break in competition, Li recorded her first individual win of the meet in the 100 butterfly (56.78). 

The Scarlet and Gray refused to let up as Camey Rabold took the top spot in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.45. Annie Gillig followed in suit, taking first in the 100 backstroke (56.69). 

Kaitlyn Ferrara, a sophomore hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, dominated the competition when she recorded a time of 5:00.09 for first place. Another solid performance by Dzierzak added nine points for Ohio State with a 100 breaststroke victory (1:05.58). 

The Buckeye relay team of Macie McNichols, Rabold, Lauren Davis and Paige Kelly rounded out the meet when they claimed first in the 200 freestyle relay at a time of 1:38.85. 

In diving, freshman standout Brittany Menninger captured wins on the one- and three-meter apparatuses. She recorded a score of 293.10 on the one-meter and followed it up with a 304.43 on the three-meter. 

Ohio State returns to McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on Friday Oct. 31 for a dual match vs. the Kenyon College Ladies. Races are set to begin at 6 p.m.
