Buckeyes Defeat Bobcats 211-86 in First Dual Meet of the Season
Columbus, Ohio-- The Ohio State women's swimming and diving teams won their first dual meet of the season on Friday, soundly defeating Ohio 211-85 for their second team win of the season.
Bopp, Li, Rabold, and Ariana Bullard kicked off the day's events with a win in the 400 medley relay (3:48.04). Clary followed that up with a big win in the 1000 free (9:54.96), recording a faster time than the next swimmer by 18 seconds. Ohio State followed that up by placing in the top-four of each of the next four events: Katy Luchansky in the 200 freestyle (1:51.37); Rabold in the 100 backstroke (54.96); Bopp in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.19); and Meg Bailey in the 200 butterfly (2:02.81).
Ohio won its only meet of the day in the 50 freestyle when Corrin Van Lanen outpaced everyone in the pool with a time of 23.56.
Hannah Thek (324.00) put the Buckeyes back on the winning side with her performance in the 3-meter dive. Li (50.06) and Rabold (2:01.57) then earned first place finishes in the 100 freestyle and 200 backstroke events, respectively. Bopp, Clary, and Rabold all claimed another firts place finish before Taylor Pamplin ended up on top after the one-meter diving competition. To finish up the meet Clary won the 200 IM (2:04.08) and Li, Cheyenne Meek, Christi DiPaolo, and Annie Jongekrijg (1:34.01) claimed first place in the 200 free relay to close out the meet and send Ohio State home with a 211-85 win.
The Buckeyes will return to the pool next Friday, Oct. 30 for a dual meet against Kenyon.
