NCAA All-American Cheyenne Cousineau

Behind All-American performances from sophomore diver Cheyenne Cousineau and senior swimmer Shannon Draves, the Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team rounded out the 2013 NCAA Championships Saturday in 28th-place. The Buckeyes accumulated 22 points at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind. after qualifying ten individuals for the prestigious meet.
Representing the OSU diving unit, Cousineau did not disappoint in her signature event, the 10-meter diving platform. The Temperance, Mich. native, qualified for the A-Final in prelims with a score of 300.96. Cousineau went on to conclude the evening in the same spot after posting a finals score of 298.70.
With the finish, Cousineau became Ohio State’s 47th diver to earn All-America status. Former diving standout Bianca Alvarez was the last Buckeye to achieve such an honor after placing fourth in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events just a season ago.
In swimming action, Draves earned her second-consecutive trip to the consolation finals of the 200 butterfly after recording a time of 1:55.80 in the preliminary round of competition. A native of Gilbertsville, Pa., Draves ended her illustrious Buckeye career with a 12th-place finish in 1:56.27, earning honorable mention All-America recognition in the process.
The relay event wrapped a busy day of competition for Norris who also posted a time of 16:24.10 in the 1650 freestyle for a 33rd-place showing.
Other individuals representing Ohio State on the final day of competition were seniors Emily Creran and Kelsey Moran.
In preliminary competition of the 200 backstroke, Creran touched in 1:54.39 for a 19th-place finish, while Moran earned 40th with a time of 1:56.65.
