COLUMBUS, Ohio - Represented by seven individuals, the Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team returned to competition at the 2013 NCAA Championships Friday at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.
The 200 medley relay contingent of Kelsey Moran, Angela Severn, Shannon Draves and Michelle Williams kicked off prelims for the Buckeyes finishing less than one-tenth of a second outside the Top 16 with a time of 1:38.35.
A senior from Gilbertsville, Pa., Draves followed up her 200 medley performance with a 30th-place finish in the 100 butterfly (53.39).
In yet another heavy field of competitors, junior Alex Norris earned 25th-place in the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:46.44.
OSU’s final two swimming contenders for the day – Moran and Emily Creran – placed 21st and 40th in the 100 backstroke, respectively. Moran, the current Ohio State school record holder in the event, touched the wall with a time of 53.17, while Creran followed in 53.90.
In diving, redshirt sophomore Cheyenne Cousineau placed 22nd in the 3-meter springboard with a total score of 299.35.
Competition will resume for the final day of the 2013 NCAA Championships at 11 a.m. ET Saturday in Indianapolis. The schedule events include: 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 10-meter platform diving and 400 freestyle relay.
