COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team began competition at the 2013 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday at IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.
Redshirt sophomore diver Cheyenne Cousineau advanced to the consolation finals of the 1-meter springboard event, placing 15th overall with a total score of 297.95. Ohio State began prelims in the 200 freestyle relay as the quartet of junior Michelle Williams, freshman Annie Jongekrijg, junior Phoebe Cater and senior Kelsey Moran posted a time of 1:31.56 for 22nd overall. Junior Alex Norris then placed 18th overall in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:42.32. Senior Emily Creran notched a time of 1:59.32 in the 200 individual medley during prelim competition, while the 400 medley relay team of Moran, senior Angela Severn, senior Shannon Draves and Williams posted a time of 3:36.62 in the prelims.
Prelim competition of day two at the 2013 NCAA Championships begins at 11 a.m. ET Friday in Indianapolis. The events scheduled tomorrow are: 200 medley relay, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 800 freestyle relay and three-meter springboard diving.
