Ohio State Places 40th at NCAA Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State women's swimming and diving team finished in 40th at the 2015 NCAA Championships, which concluded Saturday at Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C. California (513) won the team championship by 61 points over second-place Georgia (452).
Over the course of the meet, three Buckeyes - Ashley Vance, Zhesi Li and Lindsey Clary - received honorable mention All-America recognition. Also to note, three school records were broken, with new marks set in the 200 freestyle relay, 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly events.
Li, a rookie this season, started the Buckeyes off in prelims, placing 20th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.67.
Two Buckeyes - Vance and Taylor Vargo - competed in the 200 breaststroke. Vance, a senior from Kingwood, Texas, closed out her collegiate career with 32nd-place showing in the event with a time of 2:11.54.
Backed by performances from Li, Aliena Schmidtke, Annie Jongekrijg and Rachael Dzierzak, the Buckeyes also earned 27th in the 400 freestyle relay (3:18.55).
Clary placed in the Top 20 in the 1650 freestyle. A sophomore from Riverside, Calif., Clary registered the 20th-fastest mark in 16:11.05.
Ohio State diving had one representative qualify for NCAAs, senior Taylor Ford. Ford, a native of Ann Arbor, Mich. earned 42nd in the platform event with a score of 270.80.
