Indianapolis, Ind.— The 2017 NCAA Championships are underway. Lindsey Clary, Meg Bailey, Kathrin Demler, and Maria Coy combined for a time of 7:07.08 in the 800 freestyle relay to begin Ohio State’s week.
Those are the same four swimmers who posted the time of 7:06.53 last month at Big Ten Championships that qualified the Buckeyes to compete this week at NCAA’s. Both Clary and Demler improved upon their 200 freestyle splits from a month ago; Clary dropped .41 seconds (1:46.29) while Demler dropped .25 (1:45.68). Bailey turned in a time of 1:47.05 while Coy’s 200 free split was 1:48.06.
Tomorrow, Thursday, will be the first full day of the championship meet, with prelims beginning at 10:00 a.m. ET and finals picking back up at 6:00 p.m. ET. The following events will be contested: 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, 400 medley relay, and one-meter diving.
