COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 21 Ohio State women’s swimming team had a strong showing during the first of three sessions Friday night at the Northwestern Invitational in Evanston, Ill. Highlighting the team’s night was the 400 medley relay team comprised of seniors Kelsey Moran, Angela Severn, Shannon Draves and Megan Detro who posted a pool-record time of 3:42.30 for first place at Norris Aquatic Center.
“It was a really good first session for the meet and I was pleased with the energy with the girls,” head swimming coach Bill Dorenkott said. “We raced tough as a team tonight.”
The first-place mark in the 400 medley relay broke a 16-year record set by Stanford (3:43.10) during the 1997 campaign. Overall, Ohio State notched eight Top 3 finishes against Northwestern (60.00), Nebraska (66.00) and Iowa (63.50).
