COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team released its 2014 schedule today, highlighted by 13 games at Buckeye Field and a non-conference slate that includes contests against teams from five of the nation’s power conferences, including the Pac-12, Big East, Southeastern Conference, Atlantic Coast Conference and Conference USA.
“We are very excited to announce our 2014 campaign,” said second-year head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly. “The preseason will bring challenges with many teams around the country, with our two best RPI tournaments being at UNLV and the Disney Citrus Classic. We will play, at a minimum, 12 games against NCAA Tournament qualifier last year as well as seven games against teams that were in the Women’s College World Series. Our goal this year is to play the entire five months at a high level, making progress as the year goes on so we will be ready and well-tested for the postseason.”
Ohio State opens the 2014 tournament schedule with five games at Florida Atlantic, Feb. 7-9. The Buckeyes face Tulsa, an at-large selection to last year’s NCAA Tournament from Conference USA, on Feb. 7 followed by a match-up against St. John’s later in the day.
